Jet Grouting
Jet Grouting
One or more high kinetic energy fluid jets are used to break up and mix soil with a liquid cement grout to form a “soil concrete” column.
The process involves two phases: drilling with water or grout, followed by hydraulic soil cutting (usually by combining cement grout with high-pressure air and/or water jets through nozzles while removing spoil material, usually a mix of soil, water and binder, recovered at the surface).
The technique provides targeted, selective treatment of some soil layers such as deep treatment of soft soil layers under thick and compact layers. In some special cases, it can also treat soil to prevent liquefaction. Finally, the small size of the drilling machinery used allows treatment inside buildings, for recovery of existing structures or in areas with difficult access.
